Tekken 8 Reveals Gameplay (and Drip) for Leroy

Asuka may be a franchise veteran when it comes to Tekken, but her reveal was actually paired with one of the newer characters who was introduced in Tekken 7.

Tekken 8 Reveals Gameplay (and Drip) for Leroy

Check out the gameplay for Leroy Smith a.k.a. ‘The Grandmaster of Drip’:

He’ll let his hands do the talking.

#Leroy strikes back in #TEKKEN8.

Despite being American, Leroy is a master of Wing Chun, which was popularized by Donnie Yen in the Ip Man movies, playing the master of famous martial artist Bruce Lee—that’s why we see Leroy taking on Law—the character based on Lee in the game.

Interestingly enough, though Lee was taught by a Wing Chun master, his original style is called Jeet Kune Do, the same martial art that’s practiced by Law in the game.

The roster is slowly expanding, and we have yet to have more fan-favorites announced for the game. Bandai hasn’t even revealed a release date yet, but hopefully we get it when they announce the final fighter in the roster.

Here’s the official overview for Tekken 8:

Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, Tekken 8 pushes the envelope for fighting games and takes full advantage of the power of the latest generation of consoles by creating one of the most visually stunning and immersive titles in the genre yet. Tekken 8 picks up after the gruesome battle that ended in Heihachi Mishima’s defeat, focusing on a new rivalry pitting father against son as Jin Kazama stands in defiance against Kazuya Mishima’s quest for world dominance.

Tekken 8 still has no release date, but fingers crossed it comes out to all major consoles this year.
