Henry Cavill may have bowed out of The Witcher to be replaced by Liam Hemsworth, but he still has one more season where he plays Geralt of Rivia. The Witcher 3 is set to come to Netflix later this June, and we have a new trailer confirming a two-part season.
Watch this:
We don’t know exactly what the plot for Season 3 is going to be, but some fans are guessing that the show could be closing the book on the trio of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer; especially with Cavill exiting the show.
I would speculate that they would actually shift the spotlight to Ciri in future seasons since she’s already grown, but with Hemsworth cast in the role, I can imagine that they would have to do one huge time jump and maybe do a soft-reboot of the series; just to shake off any comparisons to Cavill.
With CD Projekt Red already at work on multiple Witcher games, this series should keep fans occupied while they wait for the release of the games. Admittedly, they haven’t been as faithful to the source material as some people (i.e., Cavill) would want, but there is still a lot to love about this mature fantasy series. Plus it’s the next best thing until we get the next season of House of the Dragon on HBO Max.
Vol. 1 of The Witcher 3 premieres on Netflix on June 29; Vol. 2 releases on July 27.
