The Super Mario Bros. Movie may be dominating the conversation right now, but Disney has found probably the perfect time to launch their Mario Kart clone Disney Speedstorm.
The game launches on PC and all major consoles today, and we have a new launch trailer to commemorate the release. Check this out:

While fans are expecting other Disney IP characters to join the game like heroes from Marvel and Star Wars, the launch for Speedstorm is filled with Disney originals including characters from Hercules, Monsters Inc., The Jungle Book, and Mulan. Of course, we also shouldn’t forget the OG Disney mascots like Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse himself.
With the game promising multiple seasons, we should expect more characters and cosmetics to release over time. I’m guessing Disney could be expecting some cross-promotion with the game when it comes to releasing films. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ariel becomes playable in May, around the time of the premiere of the live-action Little Mermaid.
So far, the game has been getting good reviews. Kart-racing games may not be hard to pull off, but with Disney’s rich bank of characters, I can imagine Speedstorm running for a long time.
Disney Speedstorm is available free-to-play for PC, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
